Visual Arts
Students at Wellington learn basic drawing skills and painting techniques in a structured sequence. They learn the value of their own work as they become informed about the elements of design that go into creating a masterful piece of art. Students learn to assess their own work and that of others. They study works of great masters and see their importance in understanding how people of different times viewed the world. They study the integral part art plays in the cultural heritage of earth’s people.
Most importantly, children learn that each of us has the ability to grow and develop artistic skills. They learn to see art as more than an enrichment class they take in school but as something that enriches their lives. They learn that art is life and life is art.
